An eyecatching identity for San Francisco Design Week

Together with friends at Pact Studio, we crafted a visual identity for San Francisco Design Week 2023. The theme “Plot Twist” was intentionally chosen to reflect the tides of change in this particular moment in time — in the Bay Area and beyond. The sentiment of twists and turns felt fitting, especially as we emerged from an epidemic to return into the workplace, as AI technology exponentially develops, as curveballs continue to be thrown at us in all areas of work and life.
Our take is an optimistic one, one that uses bright colors and energizing dimensional graphics to engage an audience of peers in the design industry.

A design system that bridges dimensions
We crafted a visually dynamic system that utilizes both 3D and 2D forms, to articulate the concept of twists and turns. I rendered dimensional forms in Cinema4D, and our team worked together to aggregate those shapes into poetic compositions. We deliberately used photography and video footage of subjects found in San Francisco.
These dimensional forms were used across promotional surfaces, such as website banners, social media posts, and even printed posters.
